My Take on Power Rangers: Mighty Morphin Thunder Rangers

With the arrival of Lord Zedd, Zordon gives the rangers the Thunder Powers (including the Dairanger suits). Tommy is left out because there was only enough power for 5 rangers. He sticks around as a supporting character and Kimberly's boyfriend, until Zordon and Alpha eventually develop the white ranger powers. When Tommy rejoins the team, Jason starts to feel less important in his role as leader.

When Zack and Trini are almost killed after Jason makes a bad call on a mission, Jason leaves the team ans gets replaced by Rocky. While Zack and Trini are injured, they're benched and Adam and Aisha come in. (Those two and Rocky would have shown up at the start of the season and would have been built up as close friends to the rangers.) Seeing how well Adam and Aisha are doing, Zack and Trini decide to leave the team after recovering.

So, this season ends with Rito coming to get revenge for his sister. Zedd tells him that the rangers killed his sister, and he believes him. Rito unleashes the Tengu (yes, Tengu and not Tenga, because Dairanger dealt with mythical animals and so I feel that a sort of werebird with the traditional title would be best, like it was in the MMPR film). Rito would be a human-looking person who transforms into the skeleton, just to make him seem more like Rita's brother, since Rita looked human. Anyway, Rito would exert extreme power (with the help of Zedd, Goldar, and Scorpina and destroy the Thunder powers.

This would lead the rangers on a quest to find the ancient Ninjetti powers.
